We just passed the border of Germany/Austria after a nights stay in Ulm.
We have had a really nice stay in Ulm although we discovered just before arriving there that our hotel was located a bit outside the city center. We thought we would be able to take a 20-30 minute walk to the city center but apparently it was a 50-60
minute walk.

Also the city center of Ulm is, what they call, an "Environmental Zone" which means that you need a green pass on your car to be allowed to enter. Your car can only have this green pass if it "contributes a minimal amount to the increase in
the nitrogen concentration".
We did not know this but it wasn’t really a problem for us. Also there were several bus stops in the area where buses to the city center departed in about every 20 minutes.

The hotel, Hotel Engel, we were staying at had their own restaurant and they allowed dogs inside it! That is quite rare, at least in Swedish hotels, and is very appreciated for people with dogs
that can’t be alone. Or for people like us, with a dog that can’t be trusted alone in a room with wooden furniture.
The food was good enough according to me, my partner thought it was better. It may have depended on the types of dishes we chose.
Molly wasn’t able to relax during the dinner because of flies that were disturbing her, so much that she started to panick and I had to take her to our room instead while we ate.

I learned a while ago, from Hundvetare, that there are dogs that develop sort of a phobia of flies, mosquitos etc. You can read about it on their Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/CbQcx-8o6ka/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
They also have a post about dogs in hotels if you would like some advice on that: https://www.instagram.com/p/CaByg92sw2x/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
All in all we liked this hotel and I think many dog owners do because there were a few staying there.

The quickest way to drive from Germany to where we are going in Italy is to drive through Switzerland, but the roads are quite challenging there and since it’s not an EU country we choose to drive through Austria.
To be allowed to drive the roads in Austria you need a vignette (a sticker you put in the window) which you can buy in most gas stations in both Germany and Austria.
You can also buy them online 18 days in advance of traveling here: https://www.asfinag.at/en/toll/vignette/

Hope you enjoy this blogging!
